Where in The 🌎 is The Pickup Truck Emoji?
Sometimes cultural moments are small, hard to spot, but when acted upon can have a huge impact. That’s the case with this project: The Truck Emoji. So where did this whole truck emoji idea begin? We had been doing some work with Dwayne Johnson - you know, the Rock. He posted a simple comment on twitter one morning… that there was no truck emoji. His posts got enough people hot and bothered that we just couldn't ignore it.
So, we got to work drafting a formal proposal to the mysterious organization vested with the power to decide which emoji ideas live and which ones die, aka the “Emoji Illuminati”… Its technical name - the Unicode Consortium, a Silicon Valley not-for-profit which administers the library of emoji.
Ford has always been well known for being first to bring innovations to the truck market. This forward-thinking mentality includes delivering the world’s smallest truck, The Truck Emoji.
With zero paid media, this little truck got a lot of attention everywhere. All over the internet, and across media channels like ABC News, The Atlantic, The Detroit Free Press, Gear Junkie, and Fox News to name just a few.
